Donna Eden created what’s called “The Daily Energy Routine” to balance the body’s various energy systems. This routine is made of a few different exercises (well actually, they are “movements” more than actual “exercises”) and over a few blog posts, I’m going to try to explain how to do some of these moves and what they are actually doing for your body. This particular move is called the Wayne Cook Posture.
The Wayne Cook Posture focuses the mind and allows you to untangle inner chaos, establish a better perspective, think more clearly, and learn more proficiently. This was a staple for me and all my classmates going through Energy Medicine school!
To do this move start by sitting with your spine straight. Place your left foot over your right knee and hold your left ankle with your right hand. Be sure to cover the bottom of your foot and wrap your fingers over your toes. Breathe in while stretching foot back towards you. Exhale while moving slightly forward. Repeat 4 or 5 times. Switch to other foot and repeat process.
Next, uncross your legs and “steeple” your fingers resting thumbs just above the bridge of your nose. Breathe in through your nose slowly and out through your mouth 3 or 4 times.
This has been designed to link the energies of the back brain with those of the front brain. When these energies are not communicating properly your energies are “scrambled.” This may happen as a result of prolonged stress where your nervous system has not had the necessary rest it needs to rebuild. This state prevents the assimilation and storage of new information because the brain’s energies are disconnected. If you are scrambled, your energies can also scramble the people around you. This exercise will focus the mind and allows you to untangle inner chaos. It established a better perspective, helps you think more clearly and allows you to learn more proficiently.
